Micachu, Jewellery

There are a lot of genres theses days, and all with an almost infinite degree of productivity and recombination. For instance, you can add “indie” to anything: “indie jazz,” “indie pop,” etc. The trouble – as always – is in sorting out all the impossibly shitty music from the listenable music, especially in this economy where genre markers mean never mean anything ever (excuse the superlatives, but I feel strongly). As most cool things happen, I found this record by accident. It’s not so much about whether or not it belongs to this genre or the other, I simply don’t care. This is the first record I’ve heard for some time that slightly confuses me, and leaves me ok with that. I seriously don’t care to guess what to call it. “Jewellery” is a shining example of independent thinking and artistic endurance in a 21-year-old Englishwoman.
